Kaylan, Shelley and Sydney recently attended a Constructional Aggression Treatment seminar (C.A.T.) Research done by University of North Texas associate professor Jesús Rosales-Ruiz, Ph.D. with researcher Kellie Snider, M.S. demonstrates that classical treatments for aggression have us barking up the wrong tree. C.A.T. is a humane improvement over desensitization, counter conditioning and distraction procedures. C.A.T. is an operant approach to treating aggression, not in a laboratory, but in the real world where aggression occurs. C.A.T. typically produces long-lasting results in far less time than any positive treatment available until now, and without the undesirable side-effects that are common with punishment procedures. Kaylan Head – Founder of Full Circle Obedience School.
Kaylan went on to have 4 dogs in the Top Ten in the nation, including a Pharaoh Hound who was the 6th dog in the US history of the breed to obtain an obedience title. Her first German Shepherd was the only German Shepherd in 1995 to win a Dog World Award for AKC obedience trial scores all above 195. Her dogs have also won a total of 14 performance titles including advanced AKC obedience titles, Rally, Tracking, Schutzhund, and Lure coursing.
Her first Schutzhund German Shepherd, Strega, has won High Scoring Tracking Dog in two trials, High Scoring Protection Dog, High Scoring Obedience, and High In Trial. She is now training a young German Shepherd imported from Belgium, in AKC Obedience, Tracking, and Schutzhund. She has had students whose dogs have been ranked in the Top Ten in the Nation for the following breeds: Dalmatian, Fox Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Miniature Schnauzer, Rough Collie, Belgian Tervuren, English Cocker, American Cocker, English Bulldog, and an All American through AMBOR (mixed breed association.) While the majority of the dogs who attend Full Circle Obedience School will not earn titles, but will become well-mannered, and trustworthy companions, Kaylan's philosophy is that if the director of the program has no titles on their personal dogs, or haven't helped at least a few students become nationally ranked, then there is no proof that the teacher's training methods truly work. That is why many certifications and competitive events for dogs are referred to as "tests." Sydney Head -- Full Circle Obedience School Instructor
